Joshua 1:13

““Remember what Moses, the servant of the Lord, commanded you: ‘The Lord your God is giving you a place of rest. He has given you this land.’”

– Joshua 1:13 NLT

Not that this has anything to do with the heart of this verse, but I’m reminded of the fact that we are so quick to accept the good things God gives us and write off the bad things. I’m reminded of Exodus:

“There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron. “If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned. “There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.””

– Exodus 16:2-3 NLT

God is leading the Israelites to the promised land and clearly cares enough about them to fight an entire nation, perform numerous wonders, and kill a lot of people. God obviously won’t let them starve and they know Moses and Aaron are God’s chosen leaders. So they are clearly complaining because they don’t like the conditions they are currently in. Man, if we don’t want to accept the difficult things God has for us so much, accounting for the has promises he has made, is making, will make, has fulfilled, is fulfilling, and will fulfill, to go back into slavery, we got really big issues. Luckily Christ died for us and we can, through the process of sanctification, fix them with the help of God. Let’s remember that good things come with the bad and be thankful to learn from both. – Dylan Herring
