This week on my journey towards Eldership, I have continued to heavily focus on my tongue and what comes from it. There were other focuses, but this was still the primary. There have been a multitude of interactions I have gained much as a result from, and that has been a great blessing. I realized I forgot to share this verse last week, so I’ll share it now:
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” – James 1:19-20 ESV
This verse is one of my favorites and memorized. We need to be controlling of our tongue, but also a big aspect of that is listening. If I am not speaking, I am listening. Because of that, controlling the tongue has been helping me to listen better as well.
