A lot of people like to overlook this type of content reading. It’s hard to pronounce sometimes, it’s boring, or it doesn’t seem to be talking much about God. This is probably a mistake. The Old Testament writers thought this information important and kept it in the canon. Attempting to figure out why and how it relates to the larger biblical story is the only way to truly do right by scripture. Exegesis of the history, culture, and such, of the time will help you understand how they saw God and might help you see God better. Taking time to study these passages might bring more insights than you think. Don’t write them off.
