Humble Living: Joshua 18:7, Joshua 21:41-42, and Philippians 4:19

““The Levites, however, will not receive any allotment of land. Their role as priests of the Lord is their allotment. And the tribes of Gad, Reuben, and the half-tribe of Manasseh won’t receive any more land, for they have already received their grant of land, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave them on the east side of the Jordan River.”” – Joshua 18:7 NLT

There is quite a bit of knowledge to gain from the Levites. They lived humbly. They had no land and devoted their time to doing priestly functions and that was how they were fed and paid for a chunk of history. Even when they did acquire land, it was still only pasturelands.

“The total number of towns and pasturelands within Israelite territory given to the Levites came to forty-eight. Every one of these towns had pasturelands surrounding it.” – Joshua 21:41-42 NLT

The Levites lives testify to humble living being satisfactory. They testify to living modestly and the idea of only seeking to serve God being possible. The world testifies to life only being happy with money and property. The levites didn’t live with that mindset and neither should you. Here is one last verse for you:

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19 NLT

God will provide what we need. We don’t need to rely on a large amount of wealth for our needs. It won’t fill them forever. We can live humbly because God will fill gaps where worldly things and our power can’t, and that is the same reason the Levites were able to do so.
