The Covering: 1 Kings 1:1-2 and 1 John 2:2

“When King David was very old, he could not keep warm even when they put covers over him. So his attendants said to him, “Let us look for a young virgin to serve the king and take care of him. She can lie beside him so that our Lord the king may keep warm.”” – 1 Kings 1:1-2 NIV

I’m curious about this being an example of Christ covering the body? When David was too frail and weak and could not have the things of this world cover him and keep him warm, they had to go find someone to cover him instead. It’s like how things of this world won’t cover sin completely and how we need Christ to cover us instead. Maybe it’s hinting at that? Whether it is or isn’t, let us not forget about Christ being that atoning sacrifice and thing we needed for a relationship with God. Here is 1 John 2:2:

“He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” – 1 John 2:2 NIV.
