Daydream: 1 Kings 1:25, 52-53

“Today he has gone down and sacrificed great numbers of cattle, fattened calves, and sheep. He has invited all the king’s sons, the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest. Right now they are eating and drinking with him and saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’ Solomon replied, “If he shows himself to be worthy, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground; but if evil is found in him, he will die.” Then King Solomon sent men, and they brought him down from the altar. And Adonijah came and bowed down to King Solomon, and Solomon said, “Go to your home.”” – 1 Kings 1:25, 52-53 NIV

Selfish ambition sin like this always reminds me of a kid daydreaming a selfish fantasy. Finding out that his brother was on the throne must have been a real wake up call for Adonijah. Before investing lots of resources and time in our ambitions, we need to be certain that they are from God and not ourselves to know we aren’t investing in sin.
