“So God said to him, “Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice,” – 1 Kings 3:11 NIV
We can see from the verse Solomon was granted his request based on the reason he did not make it about himself. Solomon did not ask for selfish things like long life or death for his enemies, instead he asked about learning how to be a better administrator. His pray was a prayer for something Godly and not worldly. When we pray, let us pray for things that glorify God and are for his benefit and not our own.
