The Image of God: 1 Kings 3:28 and Genesis 1:27

Firstly, I’d like to give a quick lesson on the image of God:

Human being are made in the image of God.

“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27 NIV

Being made in the image of God entails that we demonstrate, though not to the exact extent, the characteristics of God like his creativity, love, grace, joy, hope, etc.

Now for today’s passage:

“When all Israel heard the verdict the king had given, they held the king in awe, because they saw that he had wisdom from God to administer justice.” – 1 Kings 3:28 NIV

Solomon demonstrated what it looks like to be made in the image of God in showing wise leading and just administration. The response of the people was inappropriate towards Solomon however. Since Solomon was made in the image of God, the fear and awe his people were showing towards him really belonged to God. As we are made in the image of God, we should be demonstrating various aspects of God in our day to day lives
