Focus on The Text: 1 Kings‬ ‭13‬:‭18‬-‭19‬, ‭24

“The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the Lord: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’ ” (But he was lying to him.) So the man of God returned with him and ate and drank in his house. As he went on his way, a lion met him on the road and killed him, and his body was left lying on the road, with both the donkey and the lion standing beside it.” – ‭‭1 Kings‬ ‭13‬:‭18‬-‭19‬, ‭24‬ ‭NIV

I think we often think ourselves wiser than those easily fooled of the Bible when reading these passages. At least I know I am guilty of this. In all reality, however, we all fall for things just as clearly a trap and apart from God daily. Let’s humble our hearts, letting ourselves be in a place of knowing we are capable of failing just as bad if not more those in the text and focus on the meaning behind the text and it’s wisdom rather than only on sin or who is or isn’t wise.
