Crazy Faith: 1 Kings 18:27, 33-35, 37-38 and Proverbs 3:5-6

“At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.” “Do it again,” he said, and they did it again. “Do it a third time,” he ordered, and they did it the third time. The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench. Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.” Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.” – 1 Kings 18:27, 33-35, 37-38 NIV

Elijah was confident in the Lord. He was so confident he made fun of those who worshipped Baal and even added water to his sacrifice making it harder to burn. He knew the Lord would sacrifice this animal and was clearly not afraid to be made an embarrassment of if he was wrong. Can we honestly say we walk with the same faith? A lot of people now a days aren’t willing to risk looking like a crazy person if God doesn’t answer a public prayer. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do that though. We need to be willing to be bold and embarrassed for the sake of glorifying God sometimes. A verse:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV
