God Can Bless With Little: 2 Kings 4:2-7

“Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.” She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.”” – 2 Kings 4:2-7 NIV

Oftentimes we have very little in our life to bless others with and to serve with but we can do lots with even very little. That’s what this story speaks to. The woman is going to lose her children due to a debt and doesn’t have enough to repay it. The most she has is a small jar of olive oil. What you can see from the story is that God uses that jar of olive oil to fill other jars over and over again enough to pay the high debt she owed and live off of what was left. We can do the same with what we have even if not in a supernatural way like using a small olive oil jar that doesn’t empty. Maybe our way can be with our small finances where we can find ways to give to those around who are in need.
