Two Repentant Hearts: 2 Kings 7:9 and Acts 3:19

“Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”” – 2 Kings 7:9 NIV

This is highly respectable. They recognized that a behavior isn’t right by God’s conviction of them and then to corrected the behavior without the interaction of another party outside of them. That was mature. When you feel this type of call you need to act on it immediately as it is God telling you to repent of an action you are doing. Luckily the Lord will forgive us when we repent:

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” – Acts 3:19 NIV

God wipes out the sins we commit when we repent and change our course, so just like when they had a change of heart and they were forgiven and their relationship with the Lord was refreshed, ours can be too. We are always called to repent, so don’t stop repenting when you do sinful things.
