“What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ” – Philippians 3:8 NIV

Paul is saying that having a relationship Christ is far more valuable than having a relationship with the things of this world even to the point where all other things can pretty much be considered worthless. I’m just thinking that it’d be so much better to have a relationship with the creator of the universe rather than the creation itself. If you think about it, God can give you all that you want and then more. Remember that God can always recreate the treasure you lost when you chose to follow him if not give you more as a result. This doesn’t necessarily mean that he will give you those exact things as a lot of the things we gave up to have a relationship with him were bad, but in all reality, we can gain so much more from him than the scraps we can get from running from him.
