“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:13-14 NIV
Here Paul talks about pressing on and straining towards the goal forgetting what is behind. That goal clearly being to know God. I once heard a sermon on this passage. The idea of pressing on and straining indicate that a relationship with Christ and that the Christian walk will be hard and will be strenuous at times. If you encounter trial, know that it is to be expected, but take heart since any good goal is hard to win. Let that encourage you.
