“For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” – Philippians 3:18-21 NIV
I was thinking about this exact thing this morning. It’s hard to understand why people would want to reject Christ. Earthly satisfactions are temporal and unfulfilling and can sometimes even be destructive. I think of drugs, for example. I was listening to a song this morning about being patient while in trial and I was filled with such joy and ask myself why? Why do people want to reject this? Why do people want to reject Christ? Everything that we do as Christians is joy filled. Even sacrifice and trial can be joyous. A life filled with joy is much better than a life where nothing can satisfy completely. God intended man to be in a relationship with him. We need him. None of this mentions that after we die, we experience eternal peace and life and they eternal, damnation and suffering. Don’t be an enemy of God. It’s not worth it.
