Set Apart and Not Going With the Grain: Philippians 4:15-16

“As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this. Even when I was in Thessalonica you sent help more than once.” – Philippians 4:15-16 NLT

The Philippians didn’t go with the grain and ignore Paul’s financial need like the rest of the churches were doing at the time. They went against it and set themselves apart from the rest to exemplify the loving nature of Christ in sacrificing their resources for Paul. It is this set apart attitude that we Christians need to have. If even everyone else isn’t going to do what they are supposed to, we aren’t influenced by peer pressure or anxiety to do the same and not follow through and we jump into whatever God calls us. In the case of Philippians that would have been financial sacrifice.
