Don’t Enable: 2 Thessalonians 3:10

“For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”” – 2 Thessalonians 3:10 NIV

This passage speaks to people being lazy and not working not being enabled by being fed by the congregation. It may seem harsh to not give someone food when they need it, but they need to understand that their choices have consequences. Christians cannot be enablers to sin. If we don’t let the sinner bear the consequences of their own sin then they will not learn from it properly. Actions have consequences and we need to be able to see them fully if we are unwilling to repent. However, I should add that there are cases where we need to protect those not committing sin, i.e. the victims, around the sinning person sin in attempt to mitigate its effects. Don’t enable.
