Dress to Glorify God and Not Self: 1 Timothy 2:9

“I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,” – 1 Timothy 2:9 NIV

With this we see that Paul was talking about how the women shouldn’t dress in a prideful way but should dress themselves in a modest way instead. People can be really prideful about how they are presented. They are far too focused on their own image. We don’t need to focus on our appearance because it focuses to much on getting our value from something that isn’t the fact that we are made in God’s image, which is what we really derive our value from. We need to focus on glorifying God and that’s it. Dressing in a way that gives ourselves glory and doesn’t add anything to God’s is not useful.
