“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” – Hebrews 11:1 NIV
We can have faith in God because he has a clear and definite history of fulfilling his promises and keeping his word. Our God is not a God of empty promises and letdowns. He promised Abraham the Promised Land for his descendants, and the Israelites were given that after the 40 years of wandering. The Protoevangelium was made with Eve in the garden and fulfilled within Christ’s death and resurrection. Also hundreds of other prophecies were fulfilled in Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. And there are far more than just those times of prophecies. God has proven his character to be a God of his word. We need to place our hope and trust and assurance on his word and his promises for that which we are still longing for in Christ’s return and his perfection of the world. And we need to do the same with the things God says he will be and do in our everyday lives as well. We need to have faith in God no matter the time or circumstance.
