Shades of Hairy Splendor: Revelation 1:14, Proverbs 16:31, and Proverbs 20:29

“The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.” – Revelation 1:14 NIV

Notice how the fully glorified Christ has hair white like wool and as white as snow. This, based off of other passages, clearly is about the splendor of Christ. Here are two passages from Proverbs:

“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness.” – Proverbs 16:31 NIV

“The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old.” – Proverbs 20:29 NIV

In both cases, splendor is discussed with gray hair. It can show a person’s glory from a righteous life. How much more glorious is our Christ who has white hair as his glory and splendor over just gray?
