Nothing Can Compare: Isaiah 40:17-19

“Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing. With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him? As for an idol, a metalworker casts it, and a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it.” – Isaiah 40:17-19 NIV

If the nations, where everything we own resides is ultimately nothing before God then what makes us think anything we make can be compared to him. The entirety of our creations, even the best of the best in the nations mean nothing. What then can compare to God if everything we create in all of our kingdoms cannot compare to him? Well, nothing in creation can since he created everything. Where does that leave us? God is unlike anything else and nothing is like him. Praise him for his uniqueness and like at peace with him being unique and nothing able to be like him especially us. If we understand that we cannot be like him except reflecting his image like we were intended to do, that will prevent us from having another Adam and Eve moment.
