“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. But those who trust in idols, who say to images, ‘You are our gods,’ will be turned back in utter shame.” – Isaiah 42:16-17 NIV
You find that the idolaters that were blind do not seek after the new paths that the servant offers. They’d rather be trusting in their own idols and false gods that cannot help them and their comfortable and “safe” ways of life, than to grow and develop and see something bigger than what they already know. This is by their own choice. We need to be willing to grow and adapt, and turn away from our old ways of life and not trust in idols.
