“Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment.” – Isaiah 50:10-11 NIV

Those who fear the Lord and obey the word of his servant are able to walk in darkness without fear. They can trust that God will protect them and keep them safe. However, those who fear the darkness, and do not trust in the Lord for safety, and provide for themselves, will end up going to Hell. We need to trust that no matter the situation God will keep us safe. We should not try to provide for ourselves. It shows a lack of faith in our protector and provider. God is enough in every situation, and we need to listen to his promptings and not what our feelings tell us we need. Fear the Lord, obey the Lord, and nothing else. Amen.
