“and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.” – Isaiah 61:3-4, 11 NIV
Isaiah 61 shows how the Messiah will come and bring life into the world, especially through Israel. God describes those grieving in Zion becoming oaks of righteousness that he had planted. They are alive and have the full vibrant of life in them. It also speaks of how God will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. A massive part of God’s plan is planting life into the world where it needs it and creating joy and peace and good works. Understand this and work with God to bring life in the world by obeying his plan and keeping from sin which leads to death.
