Ironic Salvation: Romans 4:15 and Romans 1:18-20

“because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.” – Romans 4:15 NIV

If you read Romans 1 then you will see that the law is not necessary for a conviction of sin. Here is Romans 1:

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” – Romans 1:18-20 NIV

God makes everything plain to us of himself that we don’t need anything other than what is already been made to believe in God, and therefore we don’t need anything other than that to accuse us. In that vein the law was only a grace extended to us to show us even more how much we are accused of our sin and how much we need to repent and turn to God. It’s also a blessing as well because of its massive benefits to culture and health and such. Don’t work for salvation. It doesn’t work, ironically. Work because of your salvation out of love. Perhaps think of it like a husband that does good works for his wife because of his marriage and not doing good works to have marriage. That’d be a sad marriage.
