”All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.“ – Acts 4:32-35 NIV
Here we see the church take on the polar opposite approach to properties and finances than what the world takes on. The church gives generously to the point that all possessions each person owns are practically everyone else’s. This is a far cry from the idea of what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is yours and you keep to yours and I keep to mine. If everything we have truly belongs to God and we place him first, our possessions should fall under that umbrella and we should be freely willing to give to those in need. This is especially the case when we know God will sustain you and help you when helping to your max and giving what you have in alignment with his will.
