Pride So Strong It Makes Facts Debatable: Acts 5:28

”“We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.”“ – Acts 5:28 NIV

Well the Jews are guilty of Jesus’ blood. They were the ones that put him before the Romans and accused him without evidence. They were the ones who chose to push that. The question isn’t if they were guilty, it’s why they didn’t want to be viewed as guilty. The apostles weren’t trying to ever convince people that the Jews were guilty of killing Jesus, it was fact. The apostles were talking more about the implication of Jesus’ death and how it affects us. These specific Jews were too focused on their own pride and self worth and tried to change people’s understanding of history to make them look better. They were so focused on themselves that they actually missed the message of the apostles. They got hung up on actual facts and debating whether they were true facts and not on spiritual matters like whether Jesus was the Son of Man and the Messiah that he claimed.
