There are lots who can believe in other false saviors. They believe in wealth to save them or companionship to save them from depression or they even believe they can save themselves from every situation. This is all foolishness. Only God can save us from that depression, shame, loneliness, hurt, pain, etc. and ourselves. We are hopeless without God. And it will always be foolish to believe that anything other than our creator and designer can fix the brokenness around us.
